Rhodium Plating at Brinkhaus Jewellers

Rhodium Plating at Brinkhaus Jewellers

Rhodium plating is a process of coating a thin layer of the precious metal rhodium onto a base metal or another metal alloy, usually silver or gold, using an electroplating technique.

Rhodium is a rare and highly reflective metal that is part of the platinum group metals.

The rhodium plating process involves the use of an electric current to deposit a very thin layer of rhodium onto the surface of the base metal. This process improves the appearance and durability of the metal by making it more resistant to scratches and tarnish.

Rhodium plating is commonly used in the jewellery industry to enhance the appearance of white gold jewellery and to provide a protective coating for silver pieces that can tarnish easily.

The plating can also be used to restore the original lustre of worn or scratched jewellery. Additionally, it is used in the automotive industry to plate certain parts, such as exhaust pipes and emblems, for improved durability and resistance to corrosion.

At Brinkhaus Jewellers we offer a one hour rhodium plating service for your white gold jewellery at our workshop in Claremont, Perth.

Our team of jewellers are on-site 5 days a week (Monday to Friday) so you can drop off your white gold jewellery and collect an hour later.

As our workshop and showroom are at the same location, your precious jewellery never ever leaves our premises.

A standard white gold ring costs $50 to rhodium plate at Brinkhaus Jewellers. For larger pieces, please contact us for a complimentary quote.

Rhodium plating helps return white gold jewellery to its former glory. It increases the durability, lustre and light reflection of a piece of jewellery.

For jewellery to be rhodium plated, it must first be thoroughly cleaned to remove all contaminants. It is dipped into a rhodium solution and a positive electrical charge is used to fuse the rhodium onto the base metal.

Typically, a white gold ring needs to be rhodium plated every 6 to 12 months depending on wear and tear and body chemistry.

The next time you are in Claremont, drop off your white gold jewellery, have a coffee or a shop and collect your beloved piece an hour later.

If you have any questions regarding our rhodium plating service please contact us.
