Caring for Your Jewellery

Winter is the perfect time to care for your precious jewellery pieces.

At Brinkhaus Jewellers, we offer complimentary jewellery inspection and complimentary jewellery cleaning even if you purchased your jewellery elsewhere.

Jewellery is made to be worn, so we want to give you peace of mind so you can confidently wear your precious pieces.

We recommend checking and cleaning your fine jewellery every six months. However, depending on usage, this may vary.  For example, a ring you wear on a daily basis may benefit from being checked and cleaned every six months. Whereas a pair of earrings you wear a few times a year may only need to be cleaned once a year.

In between professional cleans, you can offer some TLC to your gemstone jewellery by wiping with a soft microfibre cloth and using some warm water and a mild dish soap with a soft child’s toothbrush to gently clean your pieces.

Pearl jewellery maintenance is a little bit different. Read our guideline on how to care for your precious pearl jewellery in our pearl jewellery blog post here.

We also offer one-hour rhodium plating for your white gold jewellery so you can drop in and leave your piece with us, have a coffee or do a spot of shopping and return to us within the hour to take your sparkling piece home.

Storing your jewellery is also an important part of the maintenance of your jewellery. We recommend storing fine jewellery in its original packaging to prevent rubbing or banging against other jewellery.

Winter is the perfect time to care for your fine jewellery so that it can be confidently worn and adored for the rest of the year.

We love restoring the sparkle and lustre to pieces so that they look as good as the day your purchased them.

Contact us or visit us with your pieces if you have any questions on how to care for your jewellery.

Our complimentary jewellery cleaning, and complimentary jewellery inspection is available in-store at 24 St Quentin Avenue Claremont.
