Colombian Emeralds

Following from our recent blog post on emeralds, we thought we would share with you a little bit about Colombian emeralds.

Emeralds are mined in many countries; however, Colombian emeralds are often the most prized as they have a very pure colour and are reputed as being one of the most natural gemstones.

The finest Colombian emeralds are bluish-green, richly saturated and stunningly clear.

Colombian emeralds are the only emeralds that are formed in sedimentary host rock instead of the igneous rock.

With this quality and purity in mind, Colombian emeralds are the most expensive (followed by Brazilian and Zambian emeralds).

Colombian emeralds have been coveted by celebrities and kings over time and even at Monday night's Met Gala, celebrities such as Bella Hadid wore this spectacular stone (90 carats to be precise)
